Lord Almighty
Christ Pantocrator
A unique icon depicting the Savior Almighty, made in the traditions of sacred art of the late 19th century. The composition is distinguished by restrained spiritual expressiveness and deep symbolism inherent in canonical iconography. The image of Christ is presented in a classical interpretation, emphasizing His divine majesty and omnipotence.
The image of the Savior Almighty (from the Greek Pantokrator — "He who holds all," "Almighty") is one of the deepest in Christian tradition. It embodies Jesus Christ as the Creator, Judge, and Lord of the world — one who simultaneously shows mercy and justice.
In the canonical depiction, Christ blesses with his right hand and holds the Gospel in his left — a symbol of Divine Law and Truth. His gaze is directed directly at the viewer, which creates a sense of personal appeal, spiritual dialogue, and inner responsibility.
This image carries the idea of order, harmony, and supreme power, reminding of the spiritual center and the inviolability of the divine principle. That is why icons of the Almighty traditionally occupy a central place — both in the church and in the home.
Particular value is added by the exquisite combination of materials: oil painting is harmoniously complemented by an 84-karat silver oklad, decorated with chasing and gilding. The delicate metalwork enhances the solemnity of the image and testifies to the high level of jewelry and artistic execution.
The icon is a rare example of the combination of painting and decorative and applied art, and has significant historical, artistic, and collection value.
